The Amsterdam police has Wednesday afternoon a “small explosive device” found in a coffee shop at the Kleine Gartmanplantsoen in the vicinity of the Leidseplein. Around 19.00 hours, the signal was ‘safe’.

“The public transport and the taxis are going to drive,” said the police. The criminal investigation department and forensic specialists continue to do their research.

The Explosives ordnance disposal (EOD), has the object examined and dismantled, and then the signal will be safely given. The explosive is for research included. The police has an idea how the object in the horecapand ended up, but wanted to be in the interest of the research nothing about it.

At the beginning of the evening arrived the EOD for the study in the cafe In the City. The police evacuated Wednesday afternoon around 16.25 hours a part around the location, after the a message had been received about a suspicious object. A politiewoordvoerder could not, at first, to say to what kind of object it was.

Bystanders report it to AT5 that it’s going to be a hand grenade. One eyewitness told the local station that the explosive to within is thrown.
