‘Members of motorcycle gangs steps more often to police’ – NOS

Many members of motorcycle clubs want clubs to leave. This would be evident from the investigations of the police. But according to police chief Pim Miltenburg they dare the step, not often, out of fear for the consequences.

Miltenburg, within the National Police is responsible for the approach of motorcycle gangs, says in an interview with the AD that the apostate members increasingly seek help from the police.

Silence

In many motorcycle clubs such as Hells Angels, Bandidos, and Mongols, are subject to a vow of silence for members and ex-members. They should not talk with police or justice.

But according to Miltenburg have more and more bikers paint to that vow of silence. “It is still a small number, but fortunately, dare members increasingly report the incident.”

Extortion

Miltenburg says that members of motorcycle clubs are under pressure to participate in criminal activities. If people from the club want steps, they are extorted.

“I would almost say that it is their business model: they throw people out, threaten, mistreat and extort them. People who don’t participate in criminal activities, is going to be huge afgerost. Fortunately, dare more and more ex-members report,” said the police officer.

Miltenburg says that the romantic image of close-knit brotherhood within the gang is not right. “Many people realize that also. Where I am now a member of become? How did I come here ever? That are no rumors of a policeman to people to scare them off. This is what we perceive.”

Approach

Miltenburg says that it is not easy to get criminal motorcycle gangs to deal with. “Only criminal law is not sufficient. To the interrelationship with the world is an integral approach is needed. Motorcycle gangs are meeting places for criminals, working with organized crime. That is not in the two-year fight.”

The big motorcycle clubs are not growing more, says Miltenburg in the AD. That is possible due to the tougher approach of the last few years, he thinks.
