Tanker leaking hydrochloric acid after crash on A73 – AD.nl

Video The emergency services have beaten high alert this afternoon around 12:30 pm after a tanker got involved on the A73 at St Odiliënberg Limburg in a traffic accident. The hydrochloric acid-filled tank of the truck’s ruptured and corrosive substance walks away. About the cause of the accident and any injuries is still unknown.



It is clear that another truck involved in the accident. The tanker with hydrochloric acid seems to be hit from behind. The first images showed that there is a lot of smoke released from the tank.

The Traffic Information Service (VID) reports that the fire on the ground is the accident at the site. Men in airtight suits walking around the accident. Police stop anyone who wears no protective clothing at a distance. Rijkswaterstaat urges motorists to stay in their cars.

Sirens go off
the parish Deer Roermond, near the A73, the sirens went off. People are urged to keep windows and doors closed and stay inside. That made the safety Limburg Noord known.

It is not known how long the situation will remain in effect. The A73 was closed in both directions, according to Public Works. Traffic must detour from both directions. Road users do from the south via Eindhoven (A67 / A2). Traffic from the Nijmegen area will be diverted via the N273.

Train traffic halted
the accident with the tanker has halted rail traffic between Roermond and Sittard. The blockage of the highway, according to the NS also not possible to use buses.

The NS warns travelers for much longer journey.
