Dutch spent more than ten million to help Ebola – nrc.nl

Dutch during the national campaign against Ebola total of over 10.3 million contributed to the fight against the disease. Hundreds of people, children and companies were collecting Giro555 for example by organizing a sponsored walk or raise deposit. The Cooperating Aid Organisations (SHO) made the final of the fundraiser today.


The money collected is used to include food, medical care, counseling, distribution of hygiene kits and the care of orphans. According to the latest figures in the affected countries in West Africa just over 22,000 cases of Ebola identified. Nearly 8800 people are deceased to the virus. Meanwhile, the number of new infections has declined.

To the epidemic in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone to cope, the organizations united in SHO started its first national action for a disease that has caused a disaster. In mid-January showed the final standings all that the counter stood at over 10 million.

The national action began on 28 November at the Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum. There was deployed include a belpanel of Dutch celebrities, where more than 20,000 people called them to donate.
