The House debate this morning from 10.15 am on the compromise coalition parties VVD and PvdA last week agreed to whether asylum seekers should be a basic form of shelter, what ‘bed, bath and bread “has become known. VVD and PvdA agreed that asylum seekers receive care in the five major cities, plus Ter Apel. The government pays, but funding is dependent on how well it manages to let strangers come back. Foreigners may only “a few weeks” to stay in the shelter. Many municipalities are critical and just want to continue offering ‘bed, bath and bread. ”

Debate with three ministers

The parliamentary debate will be held with Prime Minister Rutte , Deputy Prime Asscher and State Secretary for Security and Justice Klaas Dijkhoff (VVD), who has asylum in his portfolio.

Most parliamentary parties have their group the debate. Municipalities very critical

The city of Utrecht made yesterday announced that it will not follow all bed, bath and bread lines. Foreigners can also in future rely on emergency shelter and support.

The opposition today will refer to the critical reaction of the municipalities. Two-thirds of the municipalities said that the government plan is not workable. They wish to maintain the possibility for some form of relief.

The reason for the discussion was a decision of the Council of Europe two weeks ago. Which should bring clarity about whether relief would be required, but was open to several interpretations. The VVD it read that care was not needed, the PvdA true that they could.

For now, municipalities may continue with care, because the Supreme Administrative Court a ruling about to do. That happens probably next month
