Violent clashes between police and demonstrators Baltimore – AD.nl

The funeral of 25-year Fredday Gray tonight led to violent protests in the US city of Baltimore. Seven officers were injured and at least 35 people have been arrested. The National Guard is called and the state of emergency has been declared.

Yesterday’s funeral service was held for the black man who died last week after his arrest. It is unclear why the man was arrested, and how he became so injured his back that he fell into a coma and death. The police investigation into the circumstances and has already admitted that Gray should get medical help before he was taken away in a police van.

The death of Gray make the already high tension between mostly white police officers and black Americans increase. The days of Grays death demonstrations were held which became bigger and more violent. At the funeral service in Baltimore yesterday, thousands of visitors off. Around the ceremony were windows smashed, police cars burned and plundered it.

Outdoor consciousness
According to police, young people and police clashed in several places. Of the seven injured policemen have several broken bones. One agent is unconscious. The family of Gray says he is shocked by the violence. They wanted to hold later this week a peace march and call on everyone to remain calm.

It is the most violent riots in the United States since last summer. Then there was a similar uprising in Ferguson, after a white officer had killed a black boy.

Obama
The governor of the staaat Maryland, where Baltimore is, the National Guard called to be ready. These special units are deployed in emergency situations.

US President Barack Obama met with the mayor of Baltimore. He has also consulted with the Loretta Lynch, the new Minister of Justice who just today released its first day.

The baseball team of the city, the Orioles have canceled the race because of the riots.
