Orthodontists give patients often choose to insufficient information about their treatment bracket which there is little. Report that the Consumers’ Association and the TV program Monitor KRO NCRV today, after this had opened a hotline.

The reason for the assertion of the orthodontists was that they treat more people and that patients opt for more expensive brackets. That is according to them the reason they succeed despite imposed price reductions in their turnover to keep more or less the same.

But according to the results of the hotline is more than 70 percent of patients by their orthodontist not informed the different types of treatment and braces with accompanying price tags. Six hundred parents bracket carriers participated in the survey.

Also, more than a quarter say they have received no offer to advance the orthodontist. Which is required under the guidelines of the Dutch Healthcare Authority (NZA). The Consumers’ Association hopes that the Dutch Healthcare Authority, who was also involved, occurs in the investigation.

In July 2011 the rates fell by 16 percent in January 2013 and again by the same percentage. That happened after the Dutch Healthcare Authority found that the rates were too high for dental treatments at the orthodontist between 2007 and 2013. Purpose of the price cuts was that the ‘ortho’ would remain affordable.

According to Monitor showed earlier examination of the program all the three largest health insurers (Achmea, VGZ and CZ) saw that bracket treatments were longer and increased material costs.

Startled
NZA says in a reaction shocked about the results of the hotline and in particular that more than a quarter will not quote. The authority wants the domes of orthodontists in conversation. She is thinking to come up with rules that put the orthodontists information about possible brackets on their website, so that consumers can immerse themselves in.

dentists and orthodontists organization knmt promises improvement, according to The Monitor.
