Many beds in the AZC and emergency shelters in the Netherlands are empty. These blanks are expensive, but they can come in handy if the flow of refugees would increase again.
When the flow of refugees end suddenly increased last year, quickly shelter places were thrown up be. In July last year there were 4789 new asylum seekers, but in July of this year, that number had halved by 2260. And so are many empty beds.
200,000 euros per day
At present, the Central Agency has asylum seekers (COA) to place 52 676 asylum seekers, but there are collected 32 905 people. That means there are 19 711 empty spots. 37.5 percent of the bed is so empty.
