Judge stands shoot more deer in dunes far – NU.nl

Executive Council have well-founded according to the District Court of Haarlem why there are no alternatives to the killing of the animals. For several years living there are too many deer in the two nature reserves.

In the splendid dunes, the dunes between IJmuiden and The Hague, lived early this year more than 3,800 deer. A large part of the park was stripped bare. Therefore, the province of North Holland gave a waiver off for hunting deer.

This waiver shall there between November and March are chased by the managers of the animals. Since then, the issue of the exemption, there are already 74 deer slain. Conservation organizations had with the court appeal against the exemption.

In the summer months should not be shot on the animals because the hinds than being pregnant. Hunters do not shoot in areas which may roam many holidaymakers.

It is envisaged that roam just a thousand deer in five years in the splendid dunes. Recent figures show that the number of deer in North and South Holland increased by 29 percent last year.

The environmental organizations may have against the judgment appealed to the Council of State.
