Famous soprano Cristina Deutekom (82) deceased – AD.nl

Cristina Deutekom, one of the largest Dutch opera singers, on Thursday after a brief illness deceased in the VU hospital in her hometown Amsterdam. That her former manager disclosed. The world-famous soprano was 82 years.

Deutekom came Saturday unfortunate fall, fell into a coma and died last night at the hospital. According to her former manager Peter Alferink she was until the end of her life with spiritual good. “

Deutekom gained international prominence with an appearance at the State Opera in Munich in 1966 Three years later she was as Queen Night heard in the Metropolitan in New York, with a rave review from The New York Times after the game.

Critics praised her for her great range and smooth voice, but she was also known for her passion and surrender while singing.

During her career she worked with famous conductors and singers as Riccardo Muti, Renato Bruson, Nicolai Gedda, Placido Domingo, Ruggero Raimondi, Luciano Pavarotti, Alfredo Kraus, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and José Carreras .

Health
After a singing career of almost 25 years, she put on the last day of 1986 an abrupt end to her career. She had problems with her health.

In October 2011 was ‘La Deutekom’ with a gala concert a tribute at Royal Theatre Carré in Amsterdam.
