The new café-restaurant on the Ganzenmarkt that short time has called Hoppe, name Ubica going to wear again. So also called the mattress factory who has spent years in the property.



The restaurant and bar this summer opened its doors in the former Ubica-house close to the town hall, but it got to stick with the Amsterdam same café. The owner did not want namesake in another city. To avoid a lawsuit or a claim, the owners decided the Utrecht establishment paste and choose a new off the name.

Before overwritten owners Stefan Elvers and Niko Arwanitidis a competition among the visitors came with all kinds of suggestions. There, the owners chose the name Ubica, a reference to the history of the property. ,, It was not the most mentioned name, but is the most appropriate. Cracked
Ubica-building came in 1989 after a fire vacant there after more than half a century had been the mattress factory Ubica. In 1992 the building was cracked.
