The fire broke out around 22:00 in the factory at the Grotestraat. The fire department arrived with heavy equipment out.
The fire raging in one part of the plant that was not in use. Because part of the complex is 25 meters high, the fire is difficult to control. The fire brigade has deployed three platforms.
The staff that was present in the building has been evacuated. Insofar as is known, there are no injuries and there are no harmful substances released. The silo next to the plant that also is on fire, is empty.
According to a spokesman for the fire brigade to put out the fire will probably take all night. The burning creates a considerable smoke development. The smoke plumes can be seen from a great distance
