The municipality Terschelling 155,000 euros paid to a whistleblower so they would resign. The whistleblower, an accountant, would have refused to apply for a claim by the mayor.

The departure of the audit took place themselves under the rule of Rob Bats (VVD), who recently retired as interim mayor on Terschelling. The auditor had refused to claim a “right or left” to fit the request of Bats, so that the mayor would not get into trouble. Shortly thereafter he was sent by special leave.

According to the municipality had the auditor away because he did not perform well. Documents in the hands of Volkskrant would appear, however, that it was reckoned to him severely that he uttered repeatedly criticized. His critical stance would be considered “a direct attack” on executives. The municipality is threatening legal action if the whistleblower seeks public.

Bats was mayor of Terschelling since 2012 a Facebook Party escalated in his previous rank, Groningen Haren.
