New ‘speaking monument Kamp Westerbork – RTV Drenthe

The names come from the two restored original train cars that are on a piece of rail prepared on “The Rampe ‘, where on Tuesday the train departed to the extermination camps in Germany. The first train left in 1942, the last in 1944.

Commemoration on former camp area

Today was the former camp grounds a commemoration of the liberation of the camp by Canadians in 1945. About two thousand attendees and interested parties attended the commemoration.

With the monument “Voice Names’, the center wants to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive.
