Netherlands UN in light of MH17 Research – The Latest News

Netherlands, the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) briefed on the investigation into the disaster flight MH17 in Ukraine. The council had asked because the Netherlands is leading the research.



The Dutch ambassador to the UN, Karel van Oosterom, has let the UN know that the focus of the work is now in the mountains remains of the victims. That’s according to AP news agency, in a letter to the Security Council.

The letter is from Friday, August 1, and further reports that the investigators at the scene are unarmed, although with Ukraine was agreed that they should wear personal protection weapons.

The President of the Security Council, Mark Lyall Grant, said that there is probably no response to the Dutch letter. “The letter does not ask for an answer and I have not received a request to prepare an answer for,” the president told reporters.
