A flat in the South Holland location Ridderkerk is today partially evacuated because of a gas leak. That let the Veiligheidsregio. It involved 162 properties.
Initially, the whole building would be evacuated, but after measurements were residents of 108 apartment home. The residents of the remaining 54 homes may temporarily not their home.
The gas leak started in a basement room. Emergency services and engineers have arrived. The pipeline has been closed. The building stands on the Rijnsingel. The inhabitants are collected in a sports hall in the area. It is not yet known how many people are affected by the situation or when they can return home again.
The cause is not yet known. According Stedin came the leak at 10:59 am and hoped the gas accumulates in the basement. It is unknown why only later proceeded to vacate the property. Efforts are currently underway to ventilate the basement so that the gas can flow.
