Former mayor Job Cohen was elected by preferential votes in the Water Board Amstel, Gooi and Vecht, but does not seat

That leaves. Egbert de Vries, one of the other candidates of the Labour Party (PvdA), know. The recent water board elections got Cohen 6327 of the 69 382 votes at the party at the Water Board Amstel, Gooi and Vecht, making him eligible for one of the seats in the water board.

Labour party leader only Leny van Vliet-Smit received more votes than Cohen. The number three, four and five on the list of the Labour Party got together less votes than Cohen, while the party in the Water grew from three to five seats.

The former mayor of Amsterdam stood like a Lijstduwer – basically – ineligible twenty spot on the list of the party. Why he chose not to accept the seat, is unknown.
