Commission advocates for unsolved murders – nrc.nl

an independent advisory committee must be established where relatives and victims of serious crimes may ask unsolved murder cases to investigate once again. That letter relatives of ten murdered or disappeared under suspicious circumstances victims in a letter to Minister Van der Steur (Security and Justice, VVD).

Survivors who “doubts about the way police and the public prosecutor a criminal investigation have carried out “with nowhere to turn now, writes lawyer Job Knoester. They have “no actual voice or opportunity to influence the investigation.”

According Knoester they even encounter resistance from the OM when they ask for investigation. An independent commission would increase the chances of acceptance of the findings, writes the lawyer.



“[...] even when the results would not meet expectations. Now notice that this acceptance is often not or lesser extent present, partly because of lack of clarity and comprehensibility of certain decisions and conclusions of the investigation, as well as the feeling of not being heard at this stage while the investigation into the death or missing hitting one of the relatives concerned “
