Camp limited gas production this year to 30 billion cubic meters – nrc.nl

Domestic

Minister Kamp takes the gas in Groningen a little further closed. The gas goes throughout 2015 down to 30 billion cubic meters, instead of the 39.4 billion cubic meters which booked in the state budget. That’s just confirmed to the NRC by Hague resources.

Kamp writes here tomorrow on a letter to parliament.

In the first half of this year, gas production is limited to 16.5 billion cubic meters. The next six months is still 13.5 billion won. Research shows that at least 33 billion cubic meters of gas should be extracted to ensure the so-called “supply” means the amount needed in any case to meet obligations.

It is still two billion cubic meters of additional need in case there will be a cold winter. But the chances of this calendar year there occurs a severe winter, is nil; which is usually in January or February. Moreover, it is stored in an extra storage in Norg in Drenthe three billion cubic meters. As camp opens up to a volume of thirty billion.

Treasury runs billions wrong

The curtailment of gas Kamp wants to limit the damage of earthquakes by natural gas extraction in the province of Groningen and ensure the safety of the residents. Several opposition parties argued earlier for the reversal of the gas to 30 billion cubic meters per year.

The decision of camp is a big setback for the exchequer: every billion cubic meters less production means about 220 million euros less gas revenues. In total, the Treasury is therefore more than 2.1 billion euros wrong.

No response from Groningen drivers

Groningen drivers do not yet respond to the leaked gasbesluit the minister. We wait first send the letter off to Camp parliament tomorrow, responds spokeswoman mayor Albert Red Bow Loppersum. Hans Alders, June 1 appointed National Coordinator of Groningen, first wants to see the letter from the minister. He does not respond, because the minister is about the gas act.

Comments opposition parties

Opposition parties SP, D66, Green Left and the Christian Union in Parliament are pleased that the government gas extraction in Groningen this year further reduces, writes news agency ANP. Eric HR (SP):

“I would say to the minister: keep it up. I like to hear quickly what the plans are for 2016, so one can look ahead beyond what Groningen than six months. “

Liesbeth van Tongeren (Green) let me know where to find that “steps appear to be put on the safety of Groningers”. According to her, 22 billion cubic meters of gas sufficient for security of supply and it is “for the confidence and security of Groningen important to tap turned off as far as possible.”

The Christian Union sees this as a beginning as the party announces: “We need to get off our fossil fuel addiction.” Faction leader Arie Slob only wanted to talk to the government on the budget as the gas would be reduced. He thinks that “this significant barrier” is gone

Stientje van Veldhoven (D66) reports that Minister Kamp “finally listen to the Groningen”:.
