Until three o’clock in the night riots in The Hague after death Henriquez – nrc.nl

Late into the night throwing rioters in the Hague Schilderswijk panes, they smashed bus shelters and pelted police and firefighters with stones, fireworks and other objects. The occasion was the death of the Aruban Mitch Henriquez who died after his arrest.

About five hundred demonstrators protested at half past nine in the evening at the police station on the Heemstraat in Schilderswijk. The demonstration began peacefully but was quarter past nine out of hand. Agents were attacked when the riot police intervention. A policewoman and her horse were injured, reports Omroep West. Whether there are more injured is not known.

During the demonstration at the police station wearing protesters t-shirts with include “Stop police brutality” and “unreliable ministry” and shouted slogans like “police killers”. After the ME operation, the atmosphere became more grim. The NOS also reports that a luxury clothing store was looted.

A number of residents of the Schilderswijk let ANP know that a lot of people had come to the district to riots. There would have been a call on Facebook.

The damage is considerable, many of the windows were broken and cars were damaged. How many people are detained is still unknown.



Family Henriquez takes away from riots

Mayor Jozias van Aartsen rejects violence in the city. He understands the anger and frustration, but violence does not mention the solution.

Independent investigation into death Henriquez

The Aruban Henriquez was Saturday night at the Music Night at the Park in Zuiderpark arrested because he had a weapon. He resisted arrest, and the police used violence. He died Sunday.
