D66 lacks ambition to reform government – Financieele Dagblad (Registration)

The opposition parties to talk to the government coalition about tax reform may also have their say on the implementation of the tax cuts that are in store for the Cabinet in 2016 has. It is common ground that the charges be reduced by € 5 billion, even if the revision limbo.

That turned out Wednesday in parliament during a debate on the tax proposals of the Cabinet. D66 leader Alexander Pechtold said at the end of the debate itself will be resolute with his group or further talk about a tax reform still makes sense. He lacks ambition to the Cabinet for such revision.

No majority

D66 was Christian Union and SGP GroenLinks so far prepared behind closed doors to talk to the government on the tax proposals that Secretary of State Eric Wiebes of Finance last week sent to the House. If D66 drops, the government has no majority in the Senate more.

The government has a ready-made plan reduce the burden on labor with € 5 billion. Separately, it does suggest a tax reform. Reduction of the VAT rate to food and shift taxes from central government to municipalities are the most important ideas.

Tax cuts not only for working people

On the question of what the ‘constructive Four “has become known, said Prime Minister Mark Rutte that the coalition no taboos in the negotiations on taxation. Opposition parties who continue to have a say, may also do so on the details of the tax cuts, said Rutte.

Christian Union and SGP want not only that Workers benefit, but also chronically ill and carers. Green wants that claimants be enhanced. In the current government proposal only increases the purchasing power of people with jobs ranging from 1.75% for sole earners with incomes of twice average to 4% for a single earner with the minimum wage. Minimum wage earners and the elderly get nothing by comparison.

Sufficient support for tax cuts

Rutte said during the debate attached to see which he had warned before, namely that each party would express its own wishes and that the government’s plan to tear into pieces. “I was not for this debate,” said Rutte. “But we can keep the damage is still limited.

The Prime Minister called for engaging the burden of a tax reform. But the government will somehow return tax money to workers, he said.

Chances are that there is no agreement on a tax reform said Rutte. But even then, the government in the Senate has enough support for tax cuts. So said CDA leader Sybrand Buma be the package that represents the government and good turn out for the middle.

Low tax already fired

Christian Union and SGP GroenLinks saw enough openings to discuss further with the governing coalition. Pechtold expressed reservations, because in his eyes noncommittal commitment of the government to tax reform. He blamed Rutte not come up with proposals which the government strongly wants to do but to leave this to the opposition.

The D66 man found that restricting the low VAT already been fired. Along with CDA, SP and PVV are the three other constructive opposition parties against a general increase in VAT. They broke include a lance for culture, floriculture, cobblers and barbers.

Rutte said he hoped Pechtold remains involved. Labour leader Diederik Samson said to be convinced that the D66 leader regaled again.
