On the court decision on the reduction of CO2 emissions has been welcomed Wednesday. MP Stientje van Veldhoven D66 feels that the sustainability movement “Urgenda won an historic court”

The court in The Hague certain Wednesday that the Dutch government must make sure that in our country the emission of greenhouse gas CO2 emissions in 2020 by at least 25 percent has been reduced compared to the year 1990. Sustainability Organization Urgenda and almost nine co-plaintiffs had filed the case.

The judge said that in the Netherlands the CO2 reduction under the current policy below 17 per cent would remain, in spite of climate treaties. Which makes it very clear that climate change is a major problem that must be addressed more effectively and that states can no longer afford to do enough. They need to protect their citizens.
