Lowest number of reports of child pornography in five years – nrc.nl

Last year there with the police 462 declarations and notifications registered child pornography, which the lowest number in the past five years. This confirms a police spokesman. The figures are about the cases registered in the police records related to child pornography.

Meldpunt in 2014 received just more reports. The Hotline treated nearly 29,000 reports of child pornography. That’s up 24 percent from the year before, according to the annual report (pdf) of the Hotline.

The police spokesman did not explain the difference in reports of the Hotline and police systems. One possibility is that the accessible nature of the Reporting makes it easier to identify business while someone declaration itself should come to the office.

According to police figures, the number of reports and returns compared to a year earlier, down 14 percent. Most reports were done in the big cities. Rotterdam received 21 reports most returns in, Amsterdam (20) and The Hague (17) follow.

The annual report of the Hotline is the right IT infrastructure in the Netherlands cited as a cause of the increase. Research by the organization shows that images and videos of child sexual abuse in the Netherlands are placed online and hosted more often than in other countries.
