National Heat Plan into force tomorrow – four days of 27 degrees – nrc.nl

The National Heat Plan of the National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) is force tomorrow. That does RIVM. The plan is to protect vulnerable groups from health problems due to the hot weather is expected in the coming days.

The elderly, people in care, the chronically ill and overweight people are more vulnerable at high temperatures. The RIVM recommends the plan includes to drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, limit physical exertion during the hottest part of the day (in the afternoon) and stay in the shade.



Four days warmer than 27 degrees

The RIVM holds along with the KNMI temperatures closely. KNMI provides information on expected heat on the RIVM. Then RIVM brings the information flowing direction GGDs, industry associations and the Red Cross. These organizations provide for the continued rollout of the plan.

The heat plan is run by RIVM when at least four consecutive days of maximum temperatures above 27 degrees is expected.

Harry Geurts, spokesman for the KNMI says:

Hot start for the Tour de France

On Saturday, temperatures can rise to 35 degrees in Utrecht and that means a hot start for the riders and the spectators of the Tour de France. The organization of the start of the Tour in Utrecht is the public to take measures to raise the heat. A spokesman says to the ANP:

“We are visitors on social media like Facebook, Twitter and calls via the app and website Saturday to wear light clothes, a cap to do, to cover themselves well and drink a lot of water. We also advise the public to regularly seek out the shade. “

At several busy spots Saturday free water available to the public and there are taps around the course.
