The House wants to go that MPs continue splitting off from their group and as an individual or small party. A majority expressed today enthusiastic about the plans to reduce budget and speak for afsplitsers, reports Reuters. The ability to split persists.

In addition coalition parties VVD and PvdA and CDA SP were also excited for the plans in early April by the presidium, the board of the Chamber were done. The parties will now look at how they can discourage splitting. Possible measures will be effective the next government.

‘Cleavage embarrassment for Room

The four parties are split not practical nor desirable, since many MPs from their party leader Chamber entered . Themselves often lack the support of the electorate for their own seat. That they still allowed to keep their seat, is an embarrassment for the Chamber and confusing for voters, parties.

On the possibility of leaving the group does nothing, for it is in the constitution regulated. But a number of other measures which can be implemented fairly simple as the Presidium may make it less attractive for MPs to proceed on its own feet.

Five new party by splitting

The reason for the proposal of the Presidium was the huge fragmentation since the last elections. In 2012 there were eleven parties in the House, but now there are split by sixteen. Among other VNL – former Group Bontes / Van Klaveren – and former VVD Johan Houwers left their party and held their seat

The small groups may all have their say in debates and ask questions to. government. And they get proportionately as much salary and personnel support as the regular parties. The faction – including a group of one – you will receive an allowance

Afsplitsers itself dismissive

Other than the four parties enthusiastic response the divisional fractions negatively to the proposal.. MP Louis Bontes called the Presidium according to ANP a “politburo”. Limiting the rights of afsplitsers according to him in conflict with the Constitution. The measures according to Bontes lead to “all-powerful groups who want to stop their MPs in a straightjacket.”

Bontes itself split in 2013 of the Freedom Party, after he had criticized by party leader Geert Wilders. He pointed out that some splinter lead to new political parties such as the PVV. Wilders ever got out of the VVD. According make him VVD and PvdA are now only a point because they suffer from it yourself
