The Islamic University of Rotterdam (IUR) is subject to increased supervision of the inspectorate. Does NVAO, the Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organization survey of the quality of university education. Writes Minister Bussemakerhuis (Education) to the House.
The study looked at the way the university integrates the vision of “citizenship and social inclusion ‘in education, writes press ANP. If research gives rise to intervention, Bussemakerhuis “will not hesitate to do so.”
Last year arose fuss about Rector Ahmet Akgündüz that would have expressed anti-Western and anti-democratic views. He promised amendment, but according Bussemakerhuis he re-offend by being on Facebook negatively to comment on Turkish-Dutch candidates for the European Parliament.
Bussemakerhuis says her confidence in the IUR-board is embarrassed. Legally they can do little because it is a non-funded institution. Does have Bussemakerhuis inspection prompted the IUR sure to visit twice. A future bill should include non-funded institutions can address if they undermine the basic values of the democratic state.
