The man tried to stabbing to bystanders, said a police spokesman. When he then was approached by officers, he hit on the run.
Runners went after him and overcame a first warning shot. When that proved to have no effect, was aimed shot at him.
The man then jumped into the canal along the Ubbo Emmiussingel where the Groninger Museum is located. When police pulled him out of there, he appeared to be deceased. CPR to no avail.
Just before the channel jump, the man could possibly have themselves injured by the carving knives.
No terror
According to the police, there is no indication that the featured act of the man with terrorism or jihadism. He called no jihadi slogans. Well, the man confused, reports the police on the basis of a preliminary investigation.
The man’s body was still Sunday night at the museum where traces is done. In the course of the evening the man was transported to the University Medical Center Groningen, where section is performed

Cause of death
The study should provide, among other information regarding the cause of death. According to state police, contrary to what was previously reported, not yet officially determine whether the man by a police bullet or came from another cause to life.
Who is the man, is not yet known . Also about his motive is still unknown. Police are asking people who are threatened by the man to come forward. That may be of interest to the investigation and any victims.
The two agents involved, are retained in the shooting incident at the police station. The National Police is investigating the case, as usual with firearms by police officers in serious injury or death
